Mirror
Class
The Mirror has long been a traditional
route for a youngsters first introduction to sailing. A key feature of
the Mirror is that they are well suited for being sailed by a parent and
child (or even children).
If you have not looked at the Mirror
class recently there have been a number of changes over the last couple
of years. Changes range from Bermudan Rigs, Central Mainsheet system to
the Winder FRP Mk3 to die for!
The Mirror Class Association with
tuning guides, forum, and boats for sale can be found at

I guess there has always been a couple
of mirrors at Waldringfield Sailing Club but in the last year or so it
seems to have taken off. At the Mirror week held at neighbouring Deben
Yacht Club last year, there were ELEVEN mirrors from Waldringfield
Sailing Club!
So I was approached by the Sailing
committee to help serve the needs of the class at Waldringfield Sailing
Club.
Whilst the class has not formally
arranged any dedicated races or training this year it is hoped to
organise some ad-hoc slots. We are currently in discussion with the
Mirror Associated about organising some race tuning.
Wednesday evening races in the summer
offer an opportunity to join in with the Slow Handicap class. The
Waldringfield Regatta which is in July this year (25th & 26th) is well
supported by the club mirrors and has its own class start.
The Trophy races organised throughout
the year also offer a good opportunity to get your Mirror on the Start
line.
Mirror Week at Deben Yacht Club this
year is Sunday - Thursday due to the tides - 9th August through to 13th
August.
For those willing to travel further
afield the Mirror Worlds are at Pwllheli this year with an open entry.
Plus there is the well attended Abersoch Mirror Week in August (16th -
21st) managing to attract 65 or so mirrors of all abilities.
Please drop me an email or catch me in
the dinghy park if you have any queries
